Val and Celia’s sponsored 78km ride

Sponsored ride- Cycle 78
Horwich Ride Social are organising a sponsored ride to celebrate two of our leaders, Celia and Val
during their 78th year and would love you to come along to support this.
Celia and Val have been friends for more than four decades and have enjoyed cycling together
from an early age. They are keen to carry on cycling for many more years and indeed are still
looking to conquer more challenges.
To this end they have hatched a plan with our community cycling group, Horwich Ride Social to
celebrate this by devising a 78km route through the best lanes and countryside our region has to
offer.
The route is designed as a social adventure with pleasure in mind and a few undulations along the
way, avoiding the busier roads where possible. We hope to promote new cycling partnerships and
friends along the way.

This is not a led ride although from the start we will be intending to leave in groups. There are
cafes along the way so bring some means of payment! There will be a short briefing before we
start and the other ride leaders will be on hand to assist when necessary and riding with you.
We will be raising money for the very worthy local Children’s Hospice, Derian House.
Derian House care for more than 400 seriously ill babies, children and young people across the
North West helping them make the most of every moment.
Care is free for families, but it will cost £6 million to run services at Derian House this year, and they rely on the generosity of kind supporters to keep doing what they do.
