Start at lay-by below Betty Bees, Shincliffe, DH1 2PF

Join us for a winter outing using mainly roads and good quality off road paths. Our route will follow the A177 to Bowburn and on to Coxhoe from where we’ll head up to Quarrington Hill via the Joint Stocks road and multi user path. Onwards to Cassop and along the limestone ridge we’ll then take the steady downhill to Paradise (manage your expectations) and along the valley. We’ll pedal through Shadforth and back up the limestone scarp. Sherburn Hill next, followed by Pittington and Hallgarth before heading along Rennys Lane to Gilesgate and down Bent House Lane for arguably Durham’s best cycling view and along the riverbanks and up the bank, back to Shincliffe. We’ll earn a well deserved cuppa at Betty Bees afterwards.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. Expect to be out for about 2.5 hours. Please come suitably dressed and with working lights.

If the weather is looking iffy we will let you know via the conversation tab within the ride booking system by 8.30am on the morning. If you don’t hear from us we will be going ahead.
