Starting point

London
W5 2BY

This is a local ride, offering an easy-going circuit of some of Ealing’s parks, green spaces, and waterways. Approximately half of the ride is traffic-free, on shared tracks and paths through parks, and along river- and canal-side routes. Some sections of these tracks are unsealed, generally with good surfaces but they can become muddy after wet weather.

From Ealing Town Hall, we ride down to Gunnersbury Park, where we loop around the Park, before heading back via Blondin Park and the Boston Manor Road cycle track, to reach Elthorne Park and the Brent River. We follow the river through Hanwell and towards Greenford, crossing Perivale Park to ride up to Marnham Fields alongside the Grand Union Canal, and reaching Northala Fields. We have the option of riding to the top of one of the Northala mounds, from where extensive views of North West London can be enjoyed.

Riding on, we return to the Grand Union Canal and ride along the towpath to Horsenden Hill. We have a short ascent and a longer descent, before reaching our refreshment stop at Horsenden Farm. (Seating here is outside. If the weather is inclement, we will have our refreshment stop later, in a café in Pitshanger or Ealing.)

From here, it is a short ride back down to the A40 footbridge, then across Pitshanger Park and back to Ealing Town Hall.
