Starting point

London
W5 2TD

This ride explores some of the less well-known green spaces tucked away between the major roads to the north-east of Ealing. We will have to ride on some busy roads for short periods, so you need to be reasonably confident in traffic.

We will ride out of Ealing via Park Royal and Stonebridge Park, viewing the spectacular Neasden Temple https://londonmandir.baps.org/ and climbing up through Gladstone Park towards Staples Corner. Footbridges and pavement paths help us navigate our route and we soon turn away from the major roads into the surprisingly peaceful space of the Welsh Harp Reservoir. We will take our time to ride along the waterside- (this is an unsealed path so road bikes with skinny tyres will not be suitable)- enjoying the views over the reservoir. We will make our way to the Birchen Grove Garden Centre Café https://www.birchengrovegc.co.uk/cafe for refreshments.

Our return ride takes us towards Wembley, before turning off along the Brent River Path and then onto the Grand Union Canal to Perivale. From here it’s a short ride back to Ealing via Pitshanger.

Although Covid restrictions are no longer in force, please continue to be mindful. Please do not attend if you have any Covid 19 symptoms, have tested positive, or are currently advised to self-isolate. You may wish to bring a face covering for use in enclosed public spaces.
