Velo1750 ride to Monkeytown Queens

Our ride takes us on a circular route from Heaton Park on farm tracks, urban and country roads over the busy M60 and M62 motorways to Heywood known locally as Monkeytown for a number of reasons. In Heywood we visit one of Greater Manchester's lesser known characteristic parks for a refreshment stop. A ride alongside the River Roche before suprisingly easily ascending to the Summit area between Heywood and Bury. An exhilarating decent follows prior to the slightly more testing climb of Heap Brow. A jaunt up the Whitefield cobbles then a potentially muddy trail takes us back to Heaton Park.
Parts of this route can be muddy and rough, so hybrid bikes or mountain bikes are suitable.
