Starting point

London
NW10 3SH

This is one of our longer rides, so you need to be able to cycle for a big chunk of the day. Although mostly through cycling lanes and quiet roads, there will be a few tricky sections of the roads for us to navigate so you need to have some confidence in traffic.

Trinity Buoy Wharf is a new destination for our Brent group, and a fascinating space in the Docklands. It has London’s only remaining experimental lighthouse, which is expected to be open for visitors. There we should be able to hear the Longplayer, a musical composition of singing bowls which started playing in 1999 and will continue, without repeating, until 2999!

The area itself is very interesting, filled with shipping container-looking art studios. The unusual sculptures complete the look and make for a good place to stroll if the weather helps. You can read more about it at www.trinitybuoywharf.com.

We will stop here for lunch at the Orchard, a Container Café, but you can also bring a picnic if the weather is our side.

Our route to Trinity Buoy Wharf is through Regent’s Park, Spitalfields Market (where we will make a quick pit-stop for the toilets), Limehouse, Canary Wharf Riverside and East India Dock. The return sees us back on Canary Wharf roads, taking C3 all the way to Hyde Park. We aim to be back at Roundwood Park around 4pm.

If you find this ride fully booked, get in the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can join.

IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you can't make it anymore, cancel your space so someone else can join. *We have a 3-strike policy: those who don’t cancel but don’t turn on the day of the ride 3 times will be banned from booking on other rides. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *We sometimes video record our rides which are later published on YouTube. By joining our rides, you are authorising your image to appear on the video and photos.
