Sutton Breeze: The Great Woolly Hat Trail

We will ride from Rosehill to the River Wandle and follow the river to Carshalton where we will begin the hunt for the woolly hat toppers. The route around the postboxes is mainly circular and we will return to Rosehill via the Wandle Trail.

The Great Woolly Hat Trail is a free public art trail created by Carole Baker a photographer based in Carshalton. The trail features 15 fun and colourful crocheted postbox toppers (The Great Woolly Hat Trail 2023 (creativecarole.com)) – join us on a ride around Carshalton to find them all!

Where possible the ride will use cycle paths and quieter residential streets. A few of the toppers are on busier roads which we may need to cross to get a closer look. However, the ride has been planned to keep this to a minimum.

We will stop at each of the postboxes to get a closer look and take photographs. We can also stop at one of the cafes in Carshalton for a drink and a snack.

Please bring a helmet, water, spare inner tube, a small lock and money for the café stop. The weather at this time of year is changeable, so wear layers and bring a waterproof if rain is forecast. Make sure that your bike is in good working order and that the tyres are pumped up.

We never leave anyone behind; the plan is to enjoy being out on our bikes as a group.
