This is a long day ride and our longest ride yet. We cycle to Southwest London to visit Sunbury Walled Garden, passing through scenic parks and paths. You need to be confident cycling in regular traffic as we navigate some busy sections and roads – although lots of the route is through cycling paths and quiet roads.
We first cut through Hammersmith Bridge to get to Richmond Park, where we stop for a quick coffee. We then cycle along the Thames at Canbury Gardens until we cross Kingston Bridge to reach Hampton Court.
We join the Thames Path again, which is part of the National Cycle Network route 4, taking us into Moseley and Walton-on-Thames, and finally get to Sunbury-on-Thames, where we stop to visit the beautiful walled garden and have lunch at the café at the Embroidery Gallery. Please bring bike locks.
On our way back, we cut through Bushy Park, Twickenham Stadium, and Syon Park, where we stop again for a quick coffee and the toilets. We carry on through Boston Manor and Ealing. We aim to be back at Roundwood Park by 5.30pm.
If you find this ride fully booked, get in the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can join.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you can't make it anymore, cancel your space so someone else can join. *We have a 3-strike policy: those who don’t cancel but don’t turn on the day of the ride 3 times will be banned from booking on other rides. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *We sometimes video record our rides which are later published on YouTube. By joining our rides, you are authorising your image to appear on the video and photos.
