Starting point

London
NW10 3SH

A steady paced ride to the Southbank and London Bridge City to visit their 2 Christmas markets, and back over Tower Bridge. The majority of the ride is through some of the best cycle lanes in London, with just the odd busy road.

We head off to Hyde Park joining CS3 cutting between the park and Kensington Gardens, Green Park and Buckingham Palace. We cross Westminster Bridge to the South, and soon will be at Southbank with their Winter Market. If we find enough available bike racks (this area tends to be very busy), we will park and have a quick stroll around the market and then carry on using C10 and C14 to London Bridge City, which is the area between London Bridge and Tower Bridge along the river, where they will be having Christmas By The River.

This will be our proper break, with time to eat, drink and even do some shopping. Expect a stop longer than an hour. Please bring a good lock (or a pair of them) so you can leave your bike at the racks on the main road and be able to walk along the market.

On our way back, we cycle over Tower Bridge, which is always busy any day of the week. We cross one more busy junction at Tower Hill, circling around Tower of London and then joining CS3 again, completely segregated from traffic all the way back to Hyde Park, and then through Marylebone and Maida Vale back to Roundwood Park.

Please ensure that your bike is in good condition, with working brakes and gears and fully pumped tyres. Bring a spare inner tube and tools in case you have a puncture.

Helmets aren't compulsory but highly advisable. Please wear a mask if entering a busy indoor space like a toilet or coffee shop, except if you are exempt. Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains – dress for the weather and bring waterproofs.

Places are limited and sometimes get booked up with a waiting list. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate before the ride, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space on the website so someone else can join.
