This is a very pleasant scenic ride along the River Taff and through Penarth to Sully Island via Cosmeston Lakes Country Park to take the sea air! We will cycle down to Penarth Marina, and up the 'zig zags', getting off to walk is fine to! Then on quiet roads through Penarth joining the cycle path along the old railway line on to Cosmeston Lakes. We can stop briefly to use the loos there, then we'll be riding on quiet country lanes down to the coast at Sully Island, and back up a few short hills through more lanes to Cogan, cutting back down to Penarth Marina and returning up the Taff trail to the start.
We will be cycling on a mixture of traffic free shared cycle paths, quiet roads and country lanes, About half the route is traffic free. There are a few short hills, so you should be confident with using your gears and also in cycling through narrow lanes.
There will be an opportunity at the end of the ride for a takeaway coffee in Bute Park, for those that would like to.
Please bring a spare inner tube, hand gel/wipes, drink and snack. Cycle helmets are advised. Also some money/card if you want to buy takeaway refreshments at the end.
We never leave anyone behind :)
