Leaving Moss Bank we head up Smithills Dean to the Hall. From there we will head back up Smithills Dean through Horrocks Wood and onto Belmont road. Passing through Belmont, we will cycle over the dam and over to Egerton. We then head to Turton tower via woodland tracks. After hearing the Hall's history we will have refreshments at the Woodland Cafe - before making the return journey through the Jumbles country park. Some of these trails/tracks are bumpy hence the importance of off road tyres.

A scenic tour taking in the history of both Smithills Hall and Turton Tower via some off road country trails.

This will be a circular route, travelling over mixed terrain, some busy roads, some off road tracks, bumpy trails and some woodland paths. NOT suitable for road bikes.

We will stop at both Smithills and Turton to hear their fascinating histories. On this route we will stop along the way to catch our breath and take in the scenery and to take the odd photo.

Helmets are mandatory as on all HRS rides - no helmet no ride! Also bring along spare inner tubes etc in case of mechanical breakdown. There are refreshments at Turton Tower; drinks and cakes only so you may want to bring along some cash/payment method or your own snack .

We never leave anyone behind
