Skirting the Durham Dales

Skirting the Durham Dales
Sun 22nd Nov 10am 20 miles
Broompark Picnic site DH7 7RJ

Here’s a hilly one taking us into the fringes of the Durham Dales.

We’ll start at Broompark and warm ourselves up along the Deerness Valley railway path. At Waterhouses we’ll join quiet roads to East Hedleyhope and then climb to Hedleyhill. Clue’s in the name. But what goes up must go down and from our day’s highest point we’ll tackle a few more undulations via Cornsay and Quebec before descending down to the Browney at Langley Park from where we’ll join the Lanchester Valley Railway Path and head back to Broompark. We’ll stop for a cuppa at Field and Fodder at Aldin Grange a mile or so before the end.

Expect to be out for about 4 hours and come suitably dressed for the weather conditions and climbing to nearly 1000’ above sea level.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres.
