We leave Eccleston heading out to Shevington and taking quiet lanes to skirt around Parbold and the small hamlets and villages surrounding the Burscough area. We pass through Bickerstaffe and Rainford before looping back and up the Shaley Brow (Crank Road, Billinge).
we will then make our way to Orrell for a much needed break. Once suitably re charged we will complete the short return leg through Gathurst, Shevington and Wrightington.

A road ride around the lanes of west Lancs taking in the challenging climb up Shaley Brow, near Billinge

Mostly B roads with some busy stretches and quieter country lanes

We will take regular rest stops as needed and to re group. The cafe stop will be at The Vale near Orrell, which is some distance into the ride at 28 miles. You will therefore need plenty to drink and snacks and fuel along the route. This is so we can complete the climb up Shaley Brow without having to approach it on a full stomach

Helmets must be worn on this ride, also be equipped with your own roadside repair items in case of punctures or other mechanical issues.

This is a challenging ride and is best suited to road bikes. please be aware that the climb up Shaley Brow is about 2 thirds into the ride and therefore will need to be taken at each riders own pace. the highest point of elevation is 15% gradient and we will re group at the top.
