Seven Bridges across the River Wear

We start at Washington Arts Centre in Fatfield and make our first river crossing over Fatfield Bridge. We then follow the tracks via South Hylton all the way to the Wear Bridge.
Then we'll head back up the river and cross the Wear Bridge, the newly opened Keel River Crossing, the Queen Alexandra Bridge and the Northern Spire.
Our last bridge is the pedestrian Bridge at Cox Green and from here we'll head back to Fatfield.
Bridge number seven is the Hylton Viaduct which carries the A19 across the river but we have decided to give this a miss because of the fast traffic flow and the steps on the northern approach.

Mainly on cycle paths and shared paths but some stretches on road

We will plan a cafe stop on the route and will let you know about it in later communications.

Please ensure that your bike is in good working order and that you bring a spare inner tube and any tools you may need. Please dress appropriately for the weather now that temperatures are dropping and bring a drink for the ride. Helmets are advisable for Breeze bike rides.
