We will cycle from Pedal Power along the Taff Trail which is mostly off-road. This involves using the shared paths through Sophia Gardens until we cycle over Castle Street using the pedestrian crossing. Due to Riverside Market, we may need to cycle through the adjacent quiet streets on road until we use the pedestrian crossing to travel south. We will use the shared pavement until we have crossed Penarth Road as we ride alongside the river Taff. On reaching Grangetown, we will ride a combination of quiet on-road and shared pedestrian paths. In Butetown, we will use the zebra crossing and ride on the path until reaching Cardiff Bay near Ferry Road where we will cycle on road past the International pool and water centre.

To reach the Vale, we will cycle quiet streets around Penarth Marina then travel the Barage. In the bay, we have several options depending upon the size of group and their ability but will make our way back to the Taff Trail via Butetown. Retracing our first section, we shall ride back to the start.

Do you want to get back into cycling...or for the first time, put your new skills to use by riding to another county? We offer this ride every few months to encourage women of all ages and abilities to see new places, meet new people and surprise themselves with their accomplishments.

Most of this route is traffic-free. We will briefly cycle on-road in Grangetown and Cardiff Bay but you will be supported with leaders at the front and back. The Taff trail will be much of our route.

We will have frequent stops to regroup and explain the next section. Assuming that most participants hire a bike, an optional coffee and chat at the Pedal Power cafe will be following the ride so as to reduce their bike hire costs.

A bottle of water and perhaps a snack are helpful - leaders can carry both if you cannot. Helmets are recommended. The priority is to dress for the weather - sun lotion, sunglasses, waterproof coat, layers for crossing the blustery barrage etc.

We especially welcome newbies!
