HP2 7BA

This is a very easy-going ride, for those who are new to cycling, or just want a relaxed chatty ride. We will ride at the pace that is best suited to everyone in the group, usually between 6-8 mph. As leaders we will ensure that no one is left behind, so that all the group can have an enjoyable ride.
We will be riding approximately 14 miles on the traffic free cycle track, called ‘The Nickey Line, heading towards Redbourn, and then onwards to Harpenden to stop finally at the Oval Cafe. The Nickey Line is a disused railway line that is now accessible for cycling and walking. This beautiful, shady track has some short tarmac surface but is mainly a compacted gravel/mud surface so can be a little bumpy and muddy in places. However it is a perfect riding area for anyone wanting to get back into riding with the support of a small group. It is best suited to mountain bikes/hybrid with off road tyres or gravel bikes.

Please remember to bring,
Two spare inner tubes for your bike, even if you do not know how to change them, someone in the group will, as well as the appropriate tools (tyre levers)
A waterbottle with a drink in, riding can be very thirsty work.
Cycle helmet, for your own safety.
Appropriate clothing for the weather
Money for your refreshments

Now for the Covid bit…..
Although Covid restrictions have been lifted we are asking all riders to be respectful to other riders. Please do not attend if you have Covid symptoms or have been in contact with other people that have Covid.
All of the above is to keep us all safe from the virus.
