Starting point

West Yorkshire

This is a 27 mile ride with 1,900 feet of ascent according to Garmin, en route to Golden Acre Park.
The ride is mainly on road though there are tracks and traffic-lite sections on the return from Golden Acre Park through Adel Dam Nature Reserve, Wood Bottom, Underwood Drive and Woodlands Drive in Rawdon, the canal from Apperley Bridge to Baildon and finally down the tramway.
I will recce all the surfaces beforehand to make sure they are easily navigable.
We take the usual route from Hirst Wood up Old Hollins Hill, through Guiseley, across the Chevin and then to Bramhope and Golden Acre Park- all of which is on road.
The return journey may be less familiar and takes us through Adel Dam Nature Reserve before dropping down to Horsforth via Cookridge. Passing Horsforth Hall Park, we cross the main road to make our way towards the river and the tracks through Woodlands. At Apperley Bridge we take the canal to Baildon before a different route back to Hirst Wood via the Tramway.

We will stop at the cafe inside Golden Acre Park which has all the usual facilities plus both indoor and outdoor seating.

Helmets are a must as is some hi-vis outerwear. Make sure you have a spare inner tube at least and that your brakes, tyres etc are in good condition. Check that the British Cycling website has up to date personal and emergency contact details.
