Starting point

London
NW10 3SH

Just along the M25 in Hillingdon, there’s a little oasis of tranquillity that we get to visit on our bikes – Little Britain Lake. This is a long day, on a long-ish ride with a mix of terrains and traffic levels – we cycle along lots of water, around the lake as well as canal towpaths, negotiate some space in busy traffic in Park Royal, Uxbridge and Hayes, and also get peace away from cars in parks. You must be confident in traffic and on your bike, and bikes with skinny tyres may struggle a bit at places.

We head off through Greenford, and have a first stop at Northala Fields for a quick beverage. We carry on until we reach Little Britain Lake and spend some time here (bring a picnic blanket as the park benches may be too popular), but our lunch stop will be afterwards, just outside, at the WatersEdge pub, with beautiful views of the Grand Union Canal.

We then start on our return home, which is mostly through the 2 branches of the Grand Union Canal, however we skip the roughest of their terrain by cutting through some traffic in Hayes and Minet Country Park. At this stage it’s wise to have some snacks and plenty of water with you, as we no longer stop anywhere else until we get back at Roundwood Park later in the afternoon (by 5pm, with enough time to catch the World Cup Final).

If you find this ride fully booked, sign up to the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can come, and cancel your space as soon as possible if your plans change.

IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *We have a 3-strike policy: those who don’t cancel but don’t turn up on the day of the ride 3 times will be banned from booking on other rides. *Only riders who are booked on this ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *We sometimes video record our rides which are later published on YouTube. By joining our rides, you are authorising your image to appear on the video and photos.
