Hilly ride on country lanes to Bassleg from Cardiff

From Cyncoed we take the back route to Pontprennau along suburban roads. We then cycle on the back road from Pontprennau through the new housing estate and onto Old St Mellons. Quiet country lanes take us towards Michaelston y fedw and over Penylan hill to Bassleg. From there we join the cycle route to Vanilla Pod Cafe where we stop for refreshments. After our stop we join another off road cycle route across the flat lands to Marshfield. Then we take the back roads to the industrial estate, through Vaendre and up towards St Mellons. We join the A48 in St Mellons for a 100 yards stretch, but then turn left and head up Tyla Road back to Old St Mellons.

We continue through the lanes back through Pontprennau, Pentwyn and then onto Cyncoed.

Come and join us for a short ride to Bassleg House from East Cardiff. The ride is 25 miles and has only 1 major hill, but we take it gently and slowly, (and get off if it gets too steep).

We will be on a mix of quite country lanes, suburban roads and off-road cycling track. This ride is suitable for touring or mountain bikes, but just to warn you the lanes are very wet with pot holes in places. 

We will be stopping in Vanilla Pod cafe House for a cuppa/cake. We will also be stopping after each big hill to re-group.   

Please wear a helmet, bring money for a snack and have a pump and inner tube in case of a puncture.
