New year...new challenge? Can we build up from 10 miles to 20 miles - yes we can! Join me on a four series ride programme to reach up to 50 miles over the course of a year - don't think we can? Watch this space!
Most of the rides will be on quiet country lanes with the occasional road that is busier and sections that are hillier. Some of the rides will be on traffic free paths (you'll need a hybrid or mountain bike with chunkier tyres for those rides). The start points will be either from the cycle hub at Hartham Leisure Centre or from the car park beside Ware Library. Both have car parks that are free on Sundays. Make sure you check the start point for your ride in advance as we start on time.
Some of the shorter rides will have a cafe stop at the end and where there isn't anywhere on the route. The large majority of the rides will have a cafe stop half way. We will normally stop at the top of hills to allow riders to catch up and have a breather; no-one gets left behind and we always ride at the pace of the slowest rider.
Please always bring your helmet, pump, spare inner tube, repair kit, your bike lock, your phone and water bottle. You should continue to bring your Covid virus kit - mask for the cafe stop, hand gel or wipes and payment card for your drink. Please ensure you come appropriately dressed for the weather (check if you need to bring a rain jacket). We do not share any kit to avoid transmitting Covid so please ensure that you know how to change your inner tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqR6nlZNeU8 . Please ensure your bike is in working order before you attend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qtx60bcNk0 . Please read the notes in the Conversation box below.
