An ideal route for anyone looking to improve their road cycling confidence and increase their distance. We will leave the urban roads of Greater London behind and head out into the country lanes and pretty villages of Surrey.

A ride out to the countryside, there will be hills (approximately 300 metres of climbing over 30 miles), but no massive ones. You should be familiar with your bike and its set-up. Everyone can take the hills at their own pace, and we will meet at the top. Where possible we will use quieter roads (so that we can chat) and there will also be opportunities to build confidence on busier roads and junctions. You should have been riding in some capacity and be confident cycling on suburban and country roads.

The ride out will be via Ewell, Oxshott and Stoke D’Abernon, passing the water mill in Cobham and on to Effingham. On our return journey we will pass through the pretty villages of Great and Little Bookham and on to Leatherhead and Ashtead.

Our café stop will be the Queen Stage, a cycling pub and hub that serves local coffee and pastries during the day. There is outside seating on the terrace and patio with bike parking spaces close at hand.

Please bring a helmet, water, spare inner tube, pump, water, snacks, a small lock and money for the café stop. Make sure that your bike is in good working order and that the tyres are pumped up. As this is a longer ride it is advisable to avoid bringing heavy bags or panniers.

We never leave anyone behind; the plan is to enjoy being out on our bikes as a group.
