Meeting at the Heart of Hawick, we'll pedal out onto Buccleuch Road past the High School and out on the A7 to Martin's Bridge where we'll take a right and begin our pedal up past Roberton on quiet country roads. Taking a right towards Borthwickshiels, we'll turn right again onto Harden and take in the stunning views as we stop at the Olgilvie Memorial for a break all going well with the weather. We'll then continue down the hill, taking a left back to Hawick.
Please wear a helmet and appropriate clothing for the weather. Please ensure your bike is in good working order and tyres are pumped up, carrying any spares you need for your particular bike.
If you are using an electric bike, please ensure there is sufficient battery and you have a back up plan in the event of a mechanical/electrical.
It's advisable to carry water and snacks in case you need a boost.
We're hoping to stop on Harden so if you want to bring a snack then that would be great. We can see on the day but some of you might wish to pop into the Pavilion Cafe for a brew and something to eat when we return to Hawick, so please bring some money in case.
This route is hilly, but manageable and a perfect route if you're looking to get back on your bike after a break over winter. You should have experience with cycling and hills.
