Houghton Rectory Riders

Hello and welcome to the Houghton Rectory Rides community group.

We are a group of cyclists who enjoy a sociable, non racing, no one gets left behind ride around the Sunderland Coalfields including Houghton, Hetton, Murton, Seaham, Herrington etc. .

We are good at connecting all the missing off-road/quiet road routes together and meet on a Monday evening at 6pm just outside Houghton Rectory Park at the corner where Kimmitt and Roberts is. Our rides normally last about 2 hours (10 – 15 miles). The route for each week will be decided by the group on the evening of the ride. .

All the routes we will be cycling over are a variety of different terrains including roads, quiet roads, cycle paths, shared paths and Bridle paths Therefore, these rides are only suitable for Hybrids or Mountain bikes. E-bikes riders are very welcome to join us. .

After the ride everyone is welcome to join us for a drink/food at The White Lion (food must be ordered before the ride starts), which has a secure place for our bikes. .
