Woods and Flashes

The ride will leave Robin Park and follow the River Douglas to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal Leigh Branch towpath to Hawkley Woods and the 3 Sisters Lake where we will have a short stop. After a rest we cycle to the viewing area and then continue through Viridor Woods and back to the canal towpath at Bamfurlong Bridge. We then follow the towpath to Pennington Flash and stop at the Robin Hood pub for refreshments.

After refreshments we pass Pennington Flash and Lowton Sailing Club on our way to Byrom Hall Woods. From Byrom Hall Woods we go through Fir Tree Flash, Bickershaw and Amberswood to Wigan locks and then back to Robin Park.

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and will be posted on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders before the start of the ride if you do not want your photo taken.

The is a mixture of canal towpath, quiet roads, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails. There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments so please bring drinks and snacks or money to buy them. New riders are more than welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind. Helmets must be worn on this ride.
