From Five Rivers we follow the well ridden route through Stratford-Sub-Castle, turning right and cycling through Little Durnford, Netton and Salterton before reaching the Bridge Inn in Upper Woodford. Here we turn right and cycle through more little villages till we reach the junction after West Amesbury. Turning left we make our way to the A303 which we cross and then cycle or walk to the Perimeter of the Circle. Leaving the bikes safely, we wander to the stones. There are no barriers. Walk to them and touch or hug! An amazing experience.
Returning to Salisbury by the tracks which lead to the Larkhill Road and to the A345, we take the cycle path down into Amesbury under the A303. We can stop in Amesbury for breakfast if there is a consensus to do so, otherwise we pick up the route to West Amesbury and follow the National Cycle way back to Salisbury and finish with Gluhwein in the Market Square - or both!
