Overview

This is a train-assisted ride. We take South West Trains services from Brentford to Sunningdale (via Feltham) to start the ride. We return on the Elizabeth Line from Taplow to Ealing Broadway. Much of the ride is traffic-free. The track along the Jubilee River is stony in places. Our lunch stop is almost at the end of the ride, a picnic alongside the Jubilee River.

The Ride

From Sunningdale, we have a short ride on country roads, to enter Windsor Great Park at Black Nest Gate. We can enjoy the views of the lake from the Five Arch Bridge, before climbing steadily to the Polo Grounds. We will have an invigorating ride on the almost traffic-free undulating roads of the Park, with some steady climbs and sweeping descents, looping around the Village, and leaving the Park at the Rangers’ Gate.

We continue on traffic free cycle tracks and quiet roads, skirting around Windsor to cross the Thames near Eton. We join the off-road track along the Jubilee River for the last section of the ride. We will stop at a picnic spot along the River for our picnic lunch, before riding on to Taplow Station, where we take the Elizabeth Line back to Ealing Broadway.

Travel Arrangements

We will take the South West Trains service from Brentford Station at 09.53. We change at Feltham (arr. 10.08, dep. 10.16) to reach Sunningdale at 10.38.

The full standard fare from Brentford to Sunningdale is £10.50. Contactless payment and Oyster are valid as far as Feltham. Senior Railcard discounts apply.
