From the Great Chishill Windmill website (
https://greatchishillwindmill.com/annual-windmill-cycle-event-sunday-6th-september/):
"On Sunday September 6th we are hosting with our friends at Bourn and Gransden, a windmill cycling event to appeal to all. We have a choice of three routes;
104K (65 miles), for the keen amateur (includes 4 windmills)
78K (48 miles), for the enthusiasts (includes 3 windmills)
and 48K (30 miles) for the leisure cyclists (includes 2 windmills)
All three routes will start and finish at Great Chishill Windmill where there will be refreshments, toilet facilities and some shelter. Our friends at Bourn windmill will provide a feeder station and facilities for the 48 and 65 mile routes, ably supported by our friends at Great Gransden windmill. The 30 mile route includes Cromer windmill (Hertfordshire’s only surviving windmill). We plan an informal day where people can start at their convenience anytime from 09:00 through to 13:00 with the day finishing late afternoon at Great Chishill windmill. We also welcome cyclists who may choose to join the routes on a Hop on Hop off basis. It is an informal day where we seek people to enjoy themselves with other cyclists and meet new people or old acquaintances. All are welcome.
There will be refreshments, food and drinks available at the Great Chishill Windmill all day and a BBQ from 1300 onwards, finishing about 1700.
For those who choose to drive with their bikes to the start, there will be parking available at the Great Chishill Village Hall, about one mile from the windmill.
And we welcome those who don’t cycle but are supporters of the participating cyclists. There’s plenty to see in Great Chishill, plenty of walks in wonderful countryside and, of course, our windmill. For those who enjoy a drink, The Pheasant pub is a short walk from the windmill where guests can enjoy excellent food, drinks and hospitality. We are grateful to The Pheasant and The Nutwood Pub group for their support. One of their other pubs, The Duncombe Arms at Waresley, is conveniently on the 48 and 65 mile routes.
There is no charge for taking part in this event but there will be some modest charges for the BBQ and refreshments. Donations welcome and any monies raised will be allocated to the three windmills, Bourn, Gransden and Great Chishill."

This 65 mile route is part of the Great Chishill Annual Windmill Cycle Event. There are two shorter routes if you wish (details below).
The event is free, but the organisers have asked that we give them an idea of numbers for catering etc hence putting this on as a community group ride.
Mostly on quiet, low-traffic, rural roads.
There will be refreshments at the Great Chishill and Bourn windmills.
We never leave anyone behind
