A relaxed circular ride over Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath and Richmond Park on Sunday evening far from the maddening crowds! A lovely quiet time to ride around South West London's big green spaces during the long summer evenings. See Wimbledon Windmill and maybe spot a Womble, when most folk have gone home. Fifty percent traffic free hard packed gravel path, fifty percent quiet tarmac roads. Mostly flat terrain, some steady gradient from Robin Hood Gate up to White Lodge. Due to gravel surfaces it is recommended you have tyres of at least 27mm for comfort and to avoid punctures. Lights and helmet are essential, it's also advisable but not essential to wear some eye protection - any sunglasses will do the trick. Bring a spare inner tube, drink and a snack, most cafes in the village are closed at this time but plenty are still open down in Wimbledon town for pre or post ride refreshments. If you do want to visit a cafe please bring a good secure lock. If it is raining the ride will be cancelled as the gravel paths get big puddles!
