Wheeling to Whitehall and back via Haystax

Start at Broompark Picnic Site

Starting from Broompark we will pedal to the moorland beyond Consett via the Lanchester Valley and Waskerley Way railway paths. We will return via Oxen Law along minor but very hilly roads. Well stop for a cuppa/lunch at Haystax farm and coffee shop.
This is a challenging ride as overall we will be pedalling 1800’ uphill. Ragpath Bank uphill will be on our return route.

The ride is suitable for more seasoned riders on hybrid bikes. As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably especially as it can get cold as we ascend to the moorland. You may well need extra layers as it may well be cold up there. Please bring your own snacks in case you get peckish before we get to Haystax (after 20 miles).

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. Expect to be out for up to 5 hours.

As the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year we may alter the ride slightly if conditions are not great and we'll make any decision to cancel/amend by 8am on the morning and let you know via the conversation tab within the ride booking system.
