Wheeling to Wheelton

A circular road route from Walker Fold through Belmont, Tockholes, Feniscowles, Wheelton, Cowling, Rivington and Horwich. A social ride, ideal for anyone wanting to do shorter road rides at a steady 10-12mph. We'll keep our pace at a level so that we can all stay together. Remember, this is not a race, but a leisurely ride at a pace to suit the slowest in the group! Total mileage 28 miles and total elevation 1800 feet. It's categorised as challenging as there are some reasonable climbs on the route.

A mixture of busy and quiet roads.

We'll naturally stop at the top of most significant climbs to allow hearts, legs and lungs to recover and have a cafe stop for a drink/snack and a chance to natter and catch up.

Please check your bike over the night before the ride, tyres inflated, all bolts tight, lubricated. Clothing, helmet & lights checked and ready. Please ensure you have a pump and a couple of spare tubes in case of punctures and a good secure lock. Please be at the start point at least 15 mins before the ride start time, ready to ride, so that we can get away at the stated start time of 10.00 Although helmets are only recommended by law and not deemed to be essential, anyone not wearing a helmet will not be able to join the ride. Don’t forget your pennies/pounds for the café stop.
