Wednesday Whizz 7 (GENTS ONLY)

Join Martin on his fortnightly Wednesday Whizz road rides (nearly) all starting from Walker Fold. A circular route taking us to Cholrey New Road, along the Middlebrook Trail, through town, to Leverhulme Park, through Sevenacres Country Park, Harwood, Bromley Cross and then back to Walker Fold. Fewer photograph stops than the women’s groups but still a social ride, ideal for men wanting to do shorter road rides at a steady 10-12mph. We'll keep our pace at a level so that we can all stay together. Remember, this is not a race, but a leisurely ride at a pace to suit the slowest in the group! Total mileage 20 and total elevation 1200 feet.

The route is half and half, roads and trails. If the weather has been wet the trails can get muddy and may be unsuitable for thin road tyres but hybrids should be fine.

We'll naturally stop at the top of most significant climbs to allow hearts, legs and lungs to recover and have a cafe stop for a drink/snack and a chance to natter and catch up. We'll stop at Morrison's in Harwood - good choice of food at good prices.

Please check your bike over the night before the ride, tyres inflated, all bolts tight, lubricated. Clothing, helmet & lights checked and ready. Please ensure you have a pump and a couple of spare tubes in case of punctures and a good secure lock. Please be at the start point at least 15 mins before the ride start time, ready to ride, so that we can get away at the stated start time of 9:30 Although helmets are only recommended by law and not deemed to be essential, anyone not wearing a helmet will not be able to join the ride. Don’t forget your pennies/pounds for the café stop. Please ensure you bring along a drink for the ride It would be great to have some new & some familiar faces on this ride, you're all welcome & I look forward to riding with you.
