From the Sporting Hub car park we ride out to the Cheney Manor estate and turn left to join up with the cycle path alongside Akers Way. We turn left into Chicory Close, then cross Thamesdown Way at the next set of lights to ride the old road, which is now a cycle path. This is a gentle climb up to the new area of Ridgeway Farm. We then follow a cycle path that snakes around Peatmoor, crossing Mead Way via a bridge, then a steep descent brings us to Peatmoor Lagoon. Cycling round the water’s edge we reach Roughmoor Way. We ride along this cycle path which takes us to Shaw Village, then a right turn and passing under Roughmoor Way brings us into Middleleaze Park and then a gentle climb up to Lydiard Park.

From here we ride along Shaw Ridge before dropping down pass under Mead Way again and ride out passing the river Ray and passing B&Q. At Bruce Bridges we cross at the lights and follow the path through Ferndale. After passing the old school we turn left and head northwards to cross the Austradius Brook and join the cycle path that runs through Pinehurst. When we reach Rodbourne Cheney, we cross the road and follow the cycle path alongside Akers Way to return to Cheney Manor and the Hub car park.

An evening ride from the new Sporting Hub to West Swindon on and off road. This is one of a series of gentle evening rides exploring an area of Swindon.

The route is on quieter traffic roads and cycle paths. It’s a pretty flat route with a climb to take us up to Peatmoor via a cycle path and another climb up to Lydiard Park.

As this is a short ride there won’t be any official stops.

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going. For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days. As this is an evening ride please bring lights for your bike in case we are delayed and arrive back after sunset.

We welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.
