From the car park we ride out to the traffic lights to cross Westfield Way and along Lady Lane. We turn left into Pond Street and follow it until it becomes Seven Fields. We turn left over the stream and follow the left hand edge of Seven Fields as it meanders through the gap along the cycle path between Abbey Meads and Penhill. We turn left and have a steady climb up to the bridge that takes us over Thamesdown Drive and into the green area heading for Blunsdon St Andrew.

We reach Tadpole Lane and ride along it for a short distance before turning onto the Oakhurst Way cycle path which becomes cycle highway 45. We follow the path over the second bridge crossing Thamesdown Drive and continue on the cycle paths until we reach the Tawny Owl pub.

Our route then takes alongside Thamesdown Drive to where the dual carriageway ends and we turn up into Woodhall and onto the Akers Way cycle path all the way towards Cheney Manor church, but just before we cross Akers Way and ride along Church Walk North. This is the Northern Flyer path which we will follow to Haydon Wick. In the centre of Haydon Wick we turn right, cross Thames Avenue and head back along Lady Lane to the car park in front of the gym.

An evening ride around North Swindon on and off road. This is one of a series of gentle evening rides exploring an area of Swindon.

The route is on quieter traffic roads and cycle paths. It’s a pretty flat route with one climb to take us over Thamesdown Drive via the bridge.

As this is a short ride there won’t be any official stops.

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going. For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days. As this is an evening ride please bring lights for your bike in case we are delayed and arrive back after sunset.

We welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.
