Starting point

From the Sport Hub car park, we ride out to the Cheney Manor estate and turn right to join up with the cycle path alongside Akers Way. At the roundabout with Rodbourne Cheney church we cross the Vicarage Road and follow the cycle path into Pinehurst. Crossing Northern Road we ride through the green area that straddles Austradius Brook, following it as head eastwards. We turn right onto Cricklade Road and immediately turn left to pass under Cirencester Way.

The underpass brings us out into the Elgin estate. We turn left and follow Cirencester Way until it reaches Kembrey Park. We turn left and head up towards Stratton along cycle paths and the quiet roads of Wheeler Avenue and Meadowcroft. This brings us to Ermin Street where we head north until we reach the Hyde Road cycle path. We follow this until we reach Cricklade Road.

Crossing Cricklade Road, we turn right and skirt Penhill following the cycle path that heads north and then turns westwards. This path is the boundary between Penhill and Abbey Meads. The path then turns southwards and takes around the edge of Seven Fields bringing us out to Pond Street.

We turn right until we reach Lady Lane where we turn left, then left and right to take us into Haydon Wick. We ride through the old centre of Haydon Wick on the Northern Flyer to Hamble Road where we turn right and ride to Moredon Road. We cross and follow Church Walk South until it reaches Akers Way. We cross the road and take the cycle path back to Moredon Sports Hub.

An evening ride from Moredon Sports Hub circling around North East Swindon. This is one of a series of gentle evening rides exploring an area of Swindon.

The route is on quieter traffic roads and cycle paths. It’s a pretty flat route that circles around North East Swindon.

As this is a short ride there won’t be any official stops. However, there is a café at the start and finish.

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going. For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days. As this is an evening ride please bring lights for your bike in case we are delayed and arrive back after sunset.

We welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.
