From the Sport Hub car park, we ride out to the Cheney Manor estate and turn right to join up with the cycle path alongside Akers Way. At the next junction we turn right to follow the Northern flyer route down to Cheney Manor Road.

At the junction with Vicarage Road, we turn right and then turn left into Bessemer Road. After a short distance we turn right into Surrey Road, cross over Ferndale Road and join the cycle path that runs alongside Great Western Way, then becomes Iffley Road.

At the Pelican crossing, we cross the road and continue riding alongside Great Western Way, along the cycle path that then bears to the right heading for West Swindon. After passing under Mead Way we turn left and head for Westlea then using the underpass to cross Great Western Way. At the next pedestrian crossing, we cross Wootton Bassett Road and ride to the old railway line and along it to take us into Old Town.

We cross Marlborough Road, through the Lawns to ride down to Queen’s Drive and then ride alongside it towards the Magic Roundabout. At the pedestrian crossing, we cross over to the County Ground and then cross County Road to ride through Broad Green and up to Station Road. Turning right and then left takes under Great Western Way into Beatrice Street. We turn right into Florence Street, then left into Ferndale Road as we make our way northwards. We continue through the estates to reach Southbrook Street and heading up to the cycle path. This leads us into Pinehurst where we turn West and past Cheney Manor church back onto the cycle path alongside Akers Way and back to Moredon Sports Hub.

An evening ride from the new Sporting Hub circling the middle of Swindon on and off road. This is one of a series of gentle evening rides exploring an area of Swindon.

The route is on quieter traffic roads and cycle paths. It’s a pretty flat route that circles around the middle of Swindon. There is a gentle climb along the old railway line to take us up to Old Town.

As this is a short ride there won’t be any official stops.

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going. For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days. As this is an evening ride please bring lights for your bike in case we are delayed and arrive back after sunset.

We welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.
