Starting at Watford Cycle Hub and crossing King george V Fields, we will ride into the Ebury Way, which is a 3.5 mile traffic-free path for walkers and cyclists along the route of a former railway line linking Watford and Rickmansworth.
By bike it is a 30 minute easy ride, for the more adventurous it forms part of route 61 of the National Cycle Network which runs west to Uxbridge, Windsor and beyond. From Watford Route 6 goes from London to the Lake District!
The surface has been designed to be easy going for all users including wheelchairs, with many accessible entry points along the way.
Acting as a ‘green corridor’ for wildlife and well away from the bustle of nearby towns and traffic the route passes through a variety of habitats, including open moor, scrubby wood, wetlands and across waterways.
Crossing the 3 rivers - Colne, Chess & Gade and the Grand Union Canal, there is plenty to see along the way.

This is a scenic, quiet route down the shady traffic-free Ebury Way, created from the old Watford-Rickmansworth railway line.

Mountain bikes, hybrids with offroad tyres, gravel / cyclocross bikes are best suited to this route. While the route is mostly paved there are gravelly sections and dependin on weather sometimes it can be muddy so road / slick tyres are rarely suitable.

We will ride out and back (possibly as far as Rickmansworth/Batchworth Lock, depending on the attendees) but will usually see the lovely mural of George Michael on the way. We will return to watford Cycle HUb for refreshments at the end.

Please dress appropriately for the weather, with layers that you can add/take away (sunscreen if it's hot). We always advise wearing a helmet. Bring a drink and a snack if you like, a spare inner tube or two, some cash or a card for coffee

We never leave anyone behind
