This is a challenging Let's Ride Through Winter ride to really warm you up!
31 miles road ride from Watford Cycle Hub to Chiltern Velo cycling friendly cafe just outside Chesham.
There are three main climbs on this ride - Baldwins Lane, Vale Road (just before the cafe stop) and Chenies. We will be coming back via Rickmansworth and Tolpits Lane back to the Cycle Hub.
This ride is suitable for road bikes and lightweight hybrids with road tyres. We will be looking to average 13mph and will be taking a few busier roads so you need to be a confident and fit rider.
As always we will always wait for everyone and stop and regroup after any hills.
Chiltern Velo have coffee, other hot and cold drinks, snacks, cakes, etc. as well as excellent bike parking and a toilet. You will not need a bike lock although I would recommend just to bring a small lightweight ("cafe lock") if you're nervous about letting your bike be just out of sight / reach.
As always please wear a helmet, wear comfortable and windproof / waterproof layers and gloves and make sure your bike has lights front and back. Bring a water bottle and a small snack just in case. Bring two inner tubes and some tools if you have them.
Facilities are available in the Cycle Hub before and after the ride, should you need any additional refreshments or bike maintenance.
