A steady ride along parks, canal and green spaces in Brent and Ealing. This is suitable for those confident on their bikes, even if they aren’t very confident in traffic.
We start off with Gladstone Park and then continue to the Welsh Harp reservoir where we have a quick pause to enjoy this oasis of greenery and wildlife.
We carry on riding through Wembley and Brent River Park, soon joining the Grand Union Canal towpath until we reach Horsenden Hill, where we will stop at the Horsenden Loaf for a coffee break. As the name suggests, we will have a little hill to climb here, but those who find it hard can safely push their bikes up as we are completely separate from motor traffic.
We keep riding through Greenford, Perivale and Pitshanger parks and cross Hanger Lane in the direction of Royal Park, using segregated lanes. We then join the canal towpath once more until Harlesden, riding through back roads back to Roundwood Park. We aim to be back before 3pm.
The Welsh Harp and Horsenden Hill have some rough terrain stretches so a road bike with skinny tyres may struggle on this ride.
If you find this ride fully booked, get in the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can join.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you can't make it anymore, cancel your space so someone else can join. *We have a 3-strike policy: those who don’t cancel but don’t turn on the day of the ride 3 times will be banned from booking on other rides. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *We sometimes video record our rides which are later published on YouTube. By joining our rides, you are authorising your image to appear on the video and photos.
