Starting point

Cheshire
CH66 6AD

Predominantly flat ride comprising ~70% off-road (mostly traffic-free) in the form of cycleways, cycle paths & towpaths & 30% on B roads/country lanes in Merseyside, specifically from Hooton Train Station, Ellesmere Port. We'll ride past Capenhurst towards the well paved & wide River Dee Cycleway; part of NCN 5 & the UK's National Cycle Network which is maintained by the charity Sustrans (SUStainable TRANSport). We pedal along this traffic-free way for 7 smooth consecutive miles before reaching the city of Chester. For a more detailed map:

After getting on the towpaths of the Shropshire Union Canal, we arrive at the village of Waverton where we take our lunch break, after 24 MILES. There are wholesome baked goods & dishes prepared on site within an actual working mill by the River Gowy with plenty of history that is the Miller's Kitchen, inside Walk Mill.

Lovely ride to Walk Mill in Waverton where they mill their own wheat to make stoneground flour with all the goodness still retained. More info:

The final leg of the route takes us on country lanes through Brown Heath, Christleton & Great Boughton as well as some of the same canal towpaths before finishing at Chester Train Station for our onwards journey home.
