Starting point

Surrey
GU25 4AB

This is a lovely, almost totally traffic-free ride, with lots of green space. It is an ideal opportunity to have the adventure of a ride outside London, whilst still riding a relatively short distance and having good transport connections to get us there and back. We will ride at a leisurely pace, with plenty of time to take in the sights.

This is a train-assisted ride. Please read the ride description and the travel arrangements carefully.

Travel Arrangements

We will be taking the 09.53am service from Brentford station to Virginia Water (journey time approx. 30 mins).
Please note that Oyster and contactless cards are not valid for this journey. You will need to buy a ticket. A standard off-peak single fare is £5.70; please buy your ticket in advance if possible.

For our return, we will take the Elizabeth Line back to Ealing Broadway (journey time approx. 30 mins). Contactless payment is valid on this service, but Oyster is not valid beyond West Drayton. A standard off-peak single fare is £5.80.

The Ride

From Virginia Water, we have a short ride up to the entrance to Windsor Great Park. We will make our way carefully through the busy area near the lake, until we reach the Totem Pole. Then we find ourselves on wider, almost totally traffic free roads, where we enjoy an undulating ride across the Park, with fields and woodlands all around us.

Leaving the Park, we continue on traffic free cycle tracks and quiet roads, skirting around Windsor to cross the Thames near Eton. We join the off-road track along the Jubilee River for the last section of the ride, reaching Taplow Lake and our café stop https://lakehousecafe.co.uk/ .

After refreshments, we ride a short distance up to Taplow station, where we take the Elizabeth Line back to Ealing Broadway.
