Starting point

West Yorkshire

We head into Bingley on towpath and then go up the Twines to Harden, passing St Ives Estate. We go across Cullingworth Viaduct and shortly after Hewenden Viaduct on the Great Northern Railway Trail ending up in Harecroft. We then pass the splendidly named Walls of Jericho, and a road called Egypt that take us to Keelham. A nice downhill into Thornton before we pick up the Great Northern Railway Trail again for Thornton Viaduct and on to Queensbury Tunnel, the site of a long campaign to re-open it as a leisure route. We then climb up into Queensbury before heading down through Clayton and up to Allerton. Passing by Wilsden we make our way to Moorhead with wonderful views across the Aire Valley before dropping back down into Saltaire and our start point at Hirst Wood.

Shortish ride, albeit with hills, taking in Hewenden, Cullingworth and Thornton Viaducts plus a look at Queensbury Tunnel.

Mainly roads though tow path to begin with and then roads until we pick up the Great Northern Railway Trail at Hewenden. Off road from Thornton to Queensbury on cycle path though a bit bumpy up Station Road into Queensbury. Roads thereafter.

Undecided about where to stop but will consider alternatives and update. Keelham Farm Shop a bit too soon.

Spare inner tube, suitable clothing and robust legs.

We never leave anyone behind
