This is a new route for us and will be quite challenging, climbing up into the Surrey Hills. As the weather is turning very cold you must be able to keep up with the group as we can all get very cold waiting for someone.

Route rating

This route goes out into the Surrey Hills climbing up to the White Bear. It is challenging due to the hills and some of the roads will be very busy.

The road from Penge can be very busy. We will go through Shirley on quiet roads before joining the cycle path along the busy Kent Gateway. Featherbed Lane is uphill most of the way. After the White Bear we will return on more familiar roads to Coney Hall and back towards Penge.

We will have a coffee stop at the end of the ride at Kent House Coffee and Flowers, next to Kent House Station.

Dress appropriately for the weather. Bring a drink and maybe a snack as we will not be stopping until the end of the ride. Bring an inner tube for your bike, and a pump. A helmet is always recommended.

We never leave anyone behind
