Leaving Tankerton Slopes the ride heads out through the village of Chestfield on to the outskirts of Canterbury. Once through through Tyler Hill the ride turns right just after the Tylers Kiln pub. Once onto Tyler Hill Road, continue along here until you come across the CRAB & WINKLE WAY in Blean - near Blean Church. Turn left here and continue through the University of Kent.

Continue on to the Whitstable Road - opposite Kent College - keeping to the shared path, turn left and cross the road at the pedestrian/cycle crossing. Once over here, keep left until you turn right into NEALS PLACE ROAD by the water tower. Stay on this signposted designated cycle route all the way Chartham (Stour Valley Way).

Once through Chartham and Shalmsford Street, turn LEFT at the junction with MYSTOLE LANE (your return journey will bring back through this junction) Then turn right into PENNYPOT LANE. Continue for a few miles to the crossroads with RICHDORE ROAD - straight on to pick up RICHDORE ROAD.

Head towards the hamlets of Waltham, Hastinglea and then the village of WYE.

On leaving the coffee stop at The Hub Wye, turning left, pass the church (on your left) and turn left again onto OLANTIGH ROAD - there will be some roadworks here. This is a long and undulating road and after a few miles your will be turning RIGHT heading towards Crundale and Sole Street. Once up here, you will rejoin PENNYPOT LANE. When at the junction with MYSTOLE LANE turn left and stay on this all the way down to the Canterbury Road A28, turn left and continue around the curve in the road and turn right again just after the Badgers Hill Farm. You will now be back onto country roads. Continue towards Boughton on familiar roads on your return to Whitstable.
