This is a lovely 17 mile ride from Pontypool to the Guardian statue at Six Bells and return. It starts on the Crumlin road and then alongside the A472 on a recently created cycle path . We cross at Swffryd and then pick up Sustrans route 465 through Llanhillleth into Six Bells.
Be aware that this route does include roads but they are the quieter roads now that the A472 takes the majority of the traffic, however we will be cycling single file and you must be traffic aware! There are also some challenging hills. The biggest being on the return trip back from Llanhillleth, but you can do it! If you can't just get off and walk, we'll wait for you. The views from the Six Bells Miners memorial statue make it all worth while.

A scenic ride to the guardian statue at Six Bells

The route is a mix of roads and cycle paths.

We will stop at the Miner's Institute in Llanhilleth for refreshments

Please wear a helmet and bring along some money and a lock for the cafe stop. It is also a good idea to carry a spare tube just in case.

First-timers welcome!
