Starting point

Lancashire
PR7 2TZ

A leisurely & relatively flat ride along quiet country lanes, residential streets, short sections of main roads plus crossing Worden and Astley Parks. Mostly paved surfaces and easy to ride, using stretches of the National Cycle Network (NCN Route 55, NCN Route 62) whenever & wherever possible. The network was created (1978), built (1995) & to this date still maintained by Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (the new name for my fave Active travel charity, Sustrans) in partnership with other organisations & with help from dedicated volunteers as well as generous supporters alike.

The ride starts from Chorley Train Station, passing through Euxton, Croston, Mere Brow, Burscough, Rufford (AFTER 20 MILES into the ride, we will stop for early lunch/refreshments at TASTEBUDS CAFÉ at Fettlers Wharf or at another suitable alternative nearby if it's too busy on Mothering Sunday), Mawdesley, Eccleston and finishing for later lunch/refreshments at EL TANO WINES by 1.30pm at the latest, inside Worden Park, Leyland. Please note the ride ends here: participants may either leave at this stage or stay a while to enjoy those authentic empanadas accompanied by a glass of vino.

The nearest train station, just 1.5 miles away in Leyland town centre is ideal for the return train journey or you can cycle back to Chorley train station, 5 miles away, or the nearest carpark or onwards back home if living locally.
