Portland Basin

Starting at the historic Portland Basin, a restored 19th century warehouse, the ride meanders north up through Ashton-Under-Lyne skirting close to both the Tameside Cycle Circuit and Ashton Curzon FC. The ride joins NCN 626, cycling north all the way to Park Bridge.

For nearly 200 years, Park Bridge Ironworks was a thriving family business. Hundreds of people were employed here and its iron and steel were exported around the world. Nestling in the beautiful countryside of the Medlock Valley, here you can discover the fascinating past of this once busy ironworks.

After Park Bridge we return back via the same route to Portland Basin
