Starting point

This women-only ride from Syon Park to Gunnersbury should suit less experienced cyclists who want to build their confidence and who enjoy the social aspect of riding with others. Trying to stay close as a group, we will cycle at the pace of the slowest rider. The ride is the third of four “Saturday Shorts” during January and February from Syon Park. In 2019 you can receive rewards for your winter miles as riders who complete four or more rides during January and February will receive HSBC UK Breeze goodies.

Our ride takes in two splendid settings, the grounds of both Syon and Gunnersbury. At Gunnersbury we will cycle through the park to the Orangery, the ‘large’ and ‘small’ houses (the former, which serves as a museum, has been recently restored) and then up to the 18th century Temple which offers far-reaching views on a clear day.

To join the ride you need a bike in full working order so please check beforehand that the brakes work, the wheels spin freely and the tyres are pumped up. No special clothing is required but you should dress for the weather, remembering gloves and avoiding loose garments that could catch in your chain. A helmet is recommended. Please bring some cash if you intend to stay for optional refreshments in the Garden Centre café at Syon on our return plus, if you have one, a lock for your bike.
