A ride up to Lambeth.
We will ride up to Lambeth via Peckham, round the Elephant and Castle, and along the Lambeth Walk (dance optional). White Hart Dock is one of those London landmarks, hiding in plain sight. It has an interesting history and today it is the only remaining dock of the many that used to exist along this part of the river.
White Hart Dock served the Doulton potteries based in Lambeth High Street and we will pass the magnificent building which still stands, although ceramics are no longer in production here. Today the dock is enclosed for flood defences as at high tide the water level is higher than the surrounding area. Although long since abandoned as a dock, it has some interesting modern timber sculptures to remind us of its former use.
There will be a stop at the charming Garden Museum where there is an interesting temporary exhibition we can view,
(

There will be a coffee stop at the Songbird café in the Geraldine Harmsworth gardens.
Mostly quiet streets and segregated cycle paths but a couple of busy junctions and some busy roads to negotiate. Although not a particularly challenging ride, you must be able to ride at a steady pace so you stay with the group and we can keep to the timings listed in the information. You should be a confident cyclist for this ride.
Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions and that your bike is in good working order with the tyres pumped up.
