Summer Solstice Spectacular!

For those of you not visiting Stonehenge this year, this is the next best way to celebrate midsummers day! We leave suburbia for a lovely ride out through Surrey villages, over the M25 unexpectedly arriving at the top of the North Downs with a spectacular view. We will follow the North Downs Way for a mile or so east as there are some fabulous points of interest and some fantastic views en route to the Junction 8 cafe. We then head back along the North Downs Way to Mogador, and the easy way back through Chipstead. This route may not be best suited to road bikes with skinny tyres, as there are couple of miles of gravelly path along the North Downs Way, and there is one small section where we may all have to get off and walk for 100m or so, but it may be worth persevering as this is a really fantastic ride. There is a steepish hill each way in and out of the Chipstead Valley, otherwise not too bad and the route is easier on the way back :) Riding time should be no more than 3 hours, return journey can be done quickly for anyone needing to get back as mostly downhill. I mapped most of this on Strava 29 May, but not all the way to the J8 cafe. Did this bit later walking the dogs, adds another couple of miles.
