Brandon and Holywell Summer Evening Breeze
Thurs 22nd June 2022 7pm 10 miles
Meadowfield Sports Centre, John St North, DH7 8RG
Join us for this short ride suitable for both newer riders and those more confident wanting a sociable evening outing.
The ride is most suitable for hybrid and mountain bikes as it is a mix of on and off road which is gravelly in places. We’ll head out along the Brandon Bishop railway path to Brandon. From here we’ll freewheel down the Scripton Gill Road to follow the scenic bridleway underneath the Croxdale Viaduct to the River Wear at Sunderland Bridge. There’s a climb back up to the Cock of the North from where we’ll navigate our way via Nevilles Cross back to the start. If anyone is keen we could stop for a drink at the pub after eg The Stonebridge.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be riding for about an hour and a half.
As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably. You are better to be overdressed as you can always take layers off.
For any queries please contact us at
[email protected]. If you need to cancel your place please do this as soon as you know you can’t make it to give someone else the chance to join and if last minute we know not to expect you.
If the weather is unsuitable for cycling (eg thunderstorms) we will only contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so no later than 5.30pm on the day. If you have not heard from us the ride is going ahead.
We look forward to meeting you.
